Country Store
The Country Store was established in 2003 as a venue for South Shore Stitchers members to sell quilts and other related items at the bi-annual Quilt Show. The guild profits by receiving 10% from the sales. Non members of SSS, approved by the Quilt Show Committee, can submit items with the guild receiving 15% of the sales. Non members should contact a chair to seek approval and if approved, obtain a consignment sheet.
Items must be quilt related: Quilts, quilt tops, wall hangings, fabric*, wool, thread, thread catchers, pin cushions, hand painted labels, spool holder, vests, sweatshirts, fabric pins, pillows, ornaments, sewing machines, quilt frames, knitted items, patterns, quilt magazines, placemats, quilt bags, quilt kits, stencils, etc. are items that are popular with show attendees. Mechanical items, such as sewing machines, must be in working condition. If unsure if an item is acceptable, please call one of the chairpersons.*There is a limit of 20 units of fabric per consignor. A unit of fabric can be 1 fat quarter, a bundle of fat quarters, a cut of fabric, or a bundled collection of fabrics.

Early Girl Quilt Shop - Early Girl Quilts is excited to be joining the quilt show again for our second time. When we curate our fabrics, we look for bright and happy prints and blenders and prints that you might not find elsewhere. We will have a large selection of half yard cuts of fabric at a great price, other precuts and bundles, and our favorite quilting notions and gadgets. We will also feature some beautiful quilt kits and patterns.
Sugar Sand Quilt Company - Sugar Sand Quilt Company is a one-woman three-ring circus founded by native South Jerseyan Becca Fenstermaker, a quilting educator with 10 years of pattern design experience. Embroidery Guild (EGA) - Jersey Cape Atlantic EGA is dedicated to the study and promotion of needle arts. Our members range from beginners to experts working on embroidery, needlepoint, beading and jewelry creation. The monthly meeting is held the first Wednesday of the month at the Ocean City Community Center. Stop by and see us in the gym this year.
Fabulous Featherweights 221 - I have been quilting for decades, and I finally had an hahah moment when I realized, all I really need is a straight stitch machine. That is why Singer machines are superior in quilt block piecing. They are extremely durable, very rarely break and very dependable. Featherweights are the most sought-after machine because of its portability. Singer 99 and 66 are also popular due to their superior straight stitch. So, if you are looking for an affordable machine for piecing quilt tops, you can’t bet the Singer machines. Fabulous Featherweights booth will have some machines available. I will take orders for machines to either purchase or restore your own machine plus accessories which include ¼” foot, open toe foot, Stitch in the Ditch foot, belts, grease, and other notions. Udderly Simple Designs - We are four sisters designing quilt patterns and some original fabric designs. We have over 30 patterns with samples for each one in our booth. Our booth also contains some of our favorite sewing tools and essentials. Check out our website udderlysimple.com. Special Exhibits
CAMACO Quilters challenged its members to create a “mini quilt” featuring their favorite quilt pattern for this year’s guild challenge.
Our guild members embraced the challenge and discovered just how much creativity and skill go into making mini quilts.

In the summer of 2006 Kathy Tweed reached out to the International Applique Society (TAS) to find a local chapter. There were no chapters in NJ so they sent more information to start a group. Kathy brought the suggestion to the SSS quilt guild to see if there was interest and received a positive response.
She filed the necessary documents to form a chapter and as of August 29, 2006 we received our chapter charter and the Nimble Fingers group met for the first time. We were the only chapter in NJ for quite a few years.
Our founding members were Irene Gamble, Trudy Wells, Mary Alice Campanaro, Anne Carroll, Doris Foglio, Marueen Bologne, Jane Pszczolkowski, Sue Shaffer, Bert McCaughey, Marianne Hauck and Kathy Tweed.
It was decided not to require dues as we secured the Upper Twp Library classroom for free. TAS did require 3 attendees to pay dues to international to maintain our charter. Dues were and still are $25, and at that time members received a printed newsletter which had book reviews on applique techniques, patterns and other chapter news.
At some point the applique society determined the printing and mailing of newsletter was cost prohibitive and in order to maintain dues @ $25 the newsletter was available on line only,
We, as a group, choose a pattern or technique to master. We showed our work every two years at the SSS quilt show. We also demonstrated techniques to the public.
We each would create our projects using our choices in color and technique.
We did Rose of Sharon pattern, Reverse applique using two fabric techniques, we made Japanese Manhole covers in actual size of 21 inches.
We met at Upper Township library in the evening as most everyone was working. We moved briefly to Doris Foglio's work room.
We lost members through moves, poor health and deaths and acquired new members over the years.
We meet now at the Ocean City Library the second Wednesday of the month from 9-2.
Kathy brings a teaching kit to every meeting so if a new person shows she is able to teach them needle turn applique.
Our latest technique is reverse applique with a twist: using orphan blocks (of which we have many) layered with waste fabric and batting. Using simple designs, cut away the top layer and needle turn or raw edge around the design. Revealing the orphan block fabric.
This is our 20th year as a chapter and we will be displaying a retrospective of our 20 years of applique during the SSS quilt show.Ryan’s Case for Smiles is one the few volunteer organizations solely dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better. While other great organizations focus on research and finding a cure, we work to improve the quality of life of children and their families as they. With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase we get one step closer to our goal of helping kids with cancer and life-changing illnesses feel better to heal better. Stop by our table in the Annex to learn more about our organization and how you or your guild can become involved.South Jersey Quilts of Valor is the local chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation whose mission is to make quilts and award them to our deserving veterans as a way of bringing them comfort and thanking them for their service to our country. We represent the bottom 7 counties of New Jersey and meet 3 times of month. The first Friday of the month we meet at the Ocean City American Legion and at the Pin Cushion in Vineland the second Tuesday of the month for a sew day and the third Friday of the month for a cutting workshop to prep kits for folks to work on. During the quilt show please stop by our booth in the annex where we will be glad to share how you can get involved in this rewarding mission, help you nominate a veteran for a quilt, and see some of our quilts that we will be awarding at the Professional Craft Show in November where the proceeds benefit our local group. The show is November 21 and 22, 2026, at the community center. Pick up a postcard at the table so you will make sure to add it to your calendar!Since our last show in 2024 South Shore Stitchers have lost several of our members. We honor them by including them in our memorial wall which is on display in the annex of the Community Center.Adoption Quilts
National Adoption Day (NAD)is a grassroots movement, which began in1999 in an effort to raise awareness of more than 100,00 thousand children in the U.S. who are living in foster care while waiting for a permanent home. Since 1999, more than 90,000 adoptions have been finalized on NAD.
Usually held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving Day, adoptions are finalized and celebrated by the court system, foster/adoptive families, and the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) in New Jersey. NAD is held on the Friday before Thanksgiving Day in New Jersey.
In recent year, South Shore Stitchers Quilt Guild started the Adoption Day project. The project has provided finished quilts (45”by 55”) to every child in Atlantic and Cape May Counties whose DCPP adoption is finalized on NAD. Last year, we expanded and provided 34 quilts, and included Gloucester, Burlington, and Camden Counties. In 2026, we hope to add Cumberland and Salem Counties, thus encompassing the entire South Jersey area. Our Comfort Quilts workshop meets once a month, normally on the fourth Wednesday. The workshop dates are posted in the monthly newsletter and announced at the meetings.
We make quilts, adult bibs, and fidgit blankets*. Kits to make these items are always available at the workshop or the monthly guild meeting.
They are donated as needed/requested for any group or individual (fire victims, police departments, nursing homes, schools, etc.) Since September of 2020, we have donated 1,213 Quilts, 1,827 adult bibs, and 1,205 Fidgit Blankets.
Please stop by our display at the quilt show to view some of the items that we make and donate. We will also have information on how to obtain these items for your group or just an individual.*Fidgit blankets are a therapeutic tool designed to provide sensory stimulation and promote relaxation. These blankets are made with a variety of textures, colors, and interactive components that provide tactile and visual stimulation.Donations of kid themed fabrics, flannel, and bright DMC thread are welcomed at any time. Stop by our display and see the work we are doing for the community.Vendors information to share-This is the current list of vendors- we have two more possibly to add soon once we have their forms and then the spots are full!!

Quilts of Valor SJQOV is the local group of the QOVF, whose mission is to make quilts and award them to our deserving Veterans as a way of bringing them comfort and thanking them for their service to our country. We represent the bottom 7 counties of New Jersey and meet at the Ocean City American Legion on the first Friday of the month, and at the Pin Cushion Fabric Store in Vineland on the second Tuesday and the third Friday during the quilt show. Please stop by our exhibit, where we will be showcasing our Raffle Quilt that proceeds support our mission. The drawing for the quilt will be at the Upper.
